Making Your Quirks Work

As a child, people would always ask me about the dot in the middle of my cheek. I struggled with self esteem as I tried to work around a large mole on my face, but over time, I learned how to make it work. Believe it or not, my mole has actually become the focal point of my modeling career. Critics have said that it gives my look a little personality. It isn't always easy to feel beautiful, especially if something about you is different. I decided to create a beauty blog dedicated to helping others learn how to make their quirks work for them.

3 Tips For Blending Human Hairpieces

by Derek Little

Having a full head of hair can allow you to feel more confident. Achieving thick and glamorous hairstyles can be challenging when your natural hair has a fine texture or your hair has started to thin, Fortunately, you can rely on human hairpieces to help give you the drama you are looking for from a hairstyle.

Here are three tips that you can use to help ensure your human hairpieces are properly blended as you use them to enhance your own hair in the future.

1. Tease the roots of your natural hair.

If your natural hair is fine or thin, the clips used to secure human hairpieces in place can slide down your hair shaft over time. This will cause the clips to become visible, letting people know that you are using hairpieces to enhance your hairstyle.

In order to prevent visible clips, you need to give these clips a sturdy base on which they can be fastened. This can be achieved by teasing the roots of your natural hair. Use a teasing brush to comb the root of your hair in a C-motion. Backcombing in this manner helps to give your natural hair some texture, allowing hairpiece clips to remain firmly in place throughout the day.

2. Keep clips low.

When you have fine hair, it's important that you become familiar with the "safe zone" as you clip in your human hairpieces. Since your fine hair will not be able to camouflage clips that are placed higher on the head, you should strive to keep the clips low for maximum invisibility.

A good rule of thumb to follow is to keep the clips below your eyebrows. This will ensure that the fine hair on the crown of your head will not separate and leave your clips exposed over time.

3. Add some shine serum.

Once you have positioned the clips on your human hairpieces so that they will not slip or show, it's important that your natural hair matches the hairpieces so that the two can blend seamlessly with one another.

Your natural hair is likely a little damaged from blow drying, curling, and exposure to the environment. This damage can leave your natural hair looking dull. Hairpieces often have a bit of shine to them, so you should add a shine serum to your natural hair to help camouflage it next to the hairpieces.

Knowing how to properly blend your human hairpieces will ensure that you are able to utilize these valuable products when trying to enhance your hairstyle in the future.
