How To Create An Elegant Guest Room

Have you always wanted a formal looking guest room? Are you moving into a house that has enough bedrooms that you can actually designate one to be a guest room? Perhaps you have been in your home for years and you are finally empty nesters. For whatever reason that you now have the space, from choosing the furniture to buying bed linens for sale online, here are some ideas on how to create an elegant guest room:

The Furniture - Do you get to go shopping or are you using bedroom furniture that you already have? 

• If you are using furniture that you already have, consider giving it a brand new look. For example, if you have a wooden headboard consider painting it to look like a brass headboard. Another idea is to give it a shabby chic look. After all, shabby chic can have its own elegant look.
• If you are shopping for new furniture, decide whether you want traditional elegance or a more contemporary elegant look. For a traditional look, think about dark wood for your furniture. If you like a more modern look, shop for furniture with straight and simple lines. Metal would be a great choice.
• Choose furniture accessories that will make the room unique. For example shop for an antique chest of drawers where you can store things like bed linens and extra blankets.

The Linens - Do you want to establish a peaceful look or a dramatic look?

• Think about shopping online where you can probably find the biggest selection of bed linens. Look at pictures of bedrooms online so that you can get ideas of how to give your bed an elegant look.
• For a peaceful look, consider buying bed linens in soft colors like white, off-white or soft blue. For a dramatic look, think about buying bed linens in jewel tones.
• Whether you select a peaceful look or a dramatic one, think about buying extra pillows. Choose contrasting pillow cases to add pizzaz to the elegant tone you are setting. For example, for the peaceful look, alternate white and soft blue cases on the pillows at the headboard. For a dramatic look, think about alternating colors like red and purple pillow cases.
