Making Your Quirks Work

As a child, people would always ask me about the dot in the middle of my cheek. I struggled with self esteem as I tried to work around a large mole on my face, but over time, I learned how to make it work. Believe it or not, my mole has actually become the focal point of my modeling career. Critics have said that it gives my look a little personality. It isn't always easy to feel beautiful, especially if something about you is different. I decided to create a beauty blog dedicated to helping others learn how to make their quirks work for them.

Are You Planning An Engagement Photoshoot? 3 Tips For A Flawless Airbrush Tan

by Derek Little

Engagement photo shoots are a fun time to show off your personality as a couple. While these are often less formal than your wedding photos, you still want to make sure that you look your best. If the prospect of being photographed has you feeling a little worried, whether you haven't seen as much sun recently as you'd like to or if you have strong tan lines left over from a beach day, there's an easy fix. Whatever your worries may be, airbrush tanning provides a quick way to even out your skin tone so that you have a carefree photo shoot that shows off your gorgeous looks and fun loving personality. Here are some important things to remember when getting ready to get an airbrush tan from a salon.

Communicate Your Preferences

Tanning salons tend to over several options that you can choose from to get the look that you desire. While there are spray booths that you can use, you may prefer to use airbrush tanning services that allow you to work with a professional who can carefully monitor how the spray affects your skin tone. For instance, you may want your face to look slightly lighter than the rest of your body to give it a more natural look. In the case of established tan lines, you may want to only hit certain parts of your body. Communication is key to making sure that you leave the salon in love with your new look.

Do Your Prep Work Before the Appointment

You can also do a few things to make the application process smoother. Ideally, you should exfoliate your skin about eight hours before your appointment. As you do so, be careful not to over scrub your skin, since this can cause irritation. The goal is just to remove the dead skin cells so that the spray tan solution penetrates better.

Maintain Your Tan for the Photoshoot

In most cases, sunless tanning lasts around one to two weeks. However, you will need to give the solution time to soak into your skin, so plan to avoid showering or water activities like swimming for eight hours after your appointment. You can also moisturize each day to keep your tan looking its best. Keep in mind that your new spray tan may continue to deepen for a few hours after your session, which means doing a photo shoot the same day is not the best idea. Instead, aim to schedule your tanning salon appointment for one to two days before your photo shoot so that you'll be right in the height of your new beautiful glow. Contact a tanning salon that offers airbrush tanning near you to get ready.
